An Australian chef has received the ultimate form of recognition for his hard work and dedication – a place in the Guinness Book of World Records 2012 for a 76cm stack of pancakes.
Andy Wrobel’s precarious tower of pancakes eventually fell over, but only after the world record was confirmed.He battered the record set in 2008 by a cook in Croatia.
Wrobel, who has been flipping pancakes at the Pancake Parlour in Melbourne for 25 years, may now be more motivated to continue flipping more than 100,000 pancakes a year.
Speaking to the Metro, Wrobel said: "We tried last year and got to 61 centimetres. We thought we'd give it another go this year and we actually did it.
"We had a lot of practices, spent about 50 hours and probably used a quarter ton of buckwheat mix."
