Stress in numbers

48% cite stress and mental ill-health as a main cause of employee absence (Group Risk Development: Group risk employer research, November 2014)

56% find work very or fairly stressful (Mind, November 2014)

30% said they would not be able to talk openly with their line manager if they were stressed (Mind, November 2014)

21% would take time off if suffering from stress-related illnesses (Canada Life Group Insurance, October 2014)

94% of UK business leaders admit mental health prejudice is still present in their organisation (Bupa, October 2014)

22% avoid talking to employees who suffer from mental health (Bupa, October 2014)

70 million working days lost to mental health illnesses in 2013 (Department of Health: Employment is good for mental health report, September 2014)
