Home, motor, and pet insurance provider Policy Expert has joined the endometriosis-friendly employer scheme and pledged to support its employees impacted by the condition.
Through the scheme, which is run by charity Endometriosis UK, the organisation will offer support for those affected by the condition, as well as breaking down stigmas around menstrual health. This includes access to a range of resources on managing the condition, their rights at work, and personal stories, along with resources for employers on best practice, the law and bespoke training on how to best to support staff.
Policy Expert, which employs 1,000 UK staff, will also appoint its own endometriosis champions, who will receive training from Endometriosis UK. The champions will be able to provide information and support to those affected by the disease.
As it takes an average of eight years and 10 months to receive a diagnosis in the UK, due to a lack of understanding of the disease, the organisation wanted to tackle taboos around menstrual health through the endometriosis-friendly employer scheme.
Millie Nash, chief people officer at Policy Expert, said: “We’re delighted to join the endometriosis-friendly employer scheme to ensure we can support those in the workplace with endometriosis, as well as break down taboos about menstrual health. We look forward to working with Endometriosis UK and hope that other employers in our industry will commit to joining the scheme as well.”
Policy Expert also offers its staff hybrid working, an employee wellbeing programme, private medical and dental insurance, enhanced maternity and paternity leave, a travel season ticket loan, discounts, and a reward and recognition programme
