Organisations that employ between 50 and 249 employees are the most likely to provide a festive party or lunch. According to the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development's Reward Management 2006 survey, 84% of employers said that they planned to do so compared with 45% of organisations with 5,000 or more employees. Private sector firms were also the most likely to mark the occasion. Some 82% said that they offer a festive party or lunch, while just 21% of public sector organisations said they do so. Gifts, however, are even less popular with employers. Just 15% of those in the private sector and none in the public sector provide a gift for their employees.
