Cookies

Something for the weekend: Biscuit-loving job seekers have the ideal opportunity to apply for their dream job this week, as cookie manufacturer Maryland is hiring for an official cookie taster.

The delicious-sounding job, advertised via website Airtasker, will pay the chosen chocolate chip cookie fan £350 to attend a day at Maryland’s Innovation Centre in Edinburgh. The cookie taster will then be able to sample Maryland’s entire range of biscuits, including those yet to hit the shops, in order to provide feedback to the organisation.

The cookie taster will even have the opportunity to create their own dream cookie, whether they want it filled with sugary caramel or coated in lashings of chocolate.

As well as earning £350 for a hard day of biscuit crunching, the official cookie taster will also have their travel expenses covered by Maryland.

To apply for the job role, candidates simply have to prove they are the biggest cookie fan in the UK and Ireland, explaining exactly what lengths they would go to for a Maryland cookie. The application process is open until 26 July 2019.

Rachael Rayner, brand manager at Maryland, said: “It’s really important to us that we are constantly innovating and ensuring that Maryland Cookies remain the best-tasting cookies on the market.

“Consumer feedback is vital, so we are excited about inviting the successful candidate into our bakery to taste our range and create their very own cookie right before their eyes. It really is a cookie lover’s dream job.”

Here at Employee Benefits, we feel this would be an ideal opportunity for the sweet-toothed editorial team, who would relish the chance to design their very own EB cookie, especially while earning £350. And if we did not get the job? Just the way the cookie crumbles…
