News that John Terry’s boss Chelsea FC manager Carlo Ancelotti has granted the troubled footballer extra annual leave following allegations that he cheated on his wife shows what a useful management tool holiday can be.
This also builds the case for offering holiday trading as a workplace benefit. After all, the ability to acquire extra leave may not only allow employees to increase their international travel opportunities it may also give them the time they need to pacify a scorned lover.
Ancelotti told the Guardian newspaper that Terry would be given a holiday if he needed it and left open the possibility of the footballer travelling Dubai and missing the FA Cup fifth-round tie against Cardiff City to spend time with his wife.
He said:"If he needs to have a holiday I will give him a holiday. If he doesn't need a holiday he will play at Cardiff."
