2016 - where has the year gone? It may be a reflection of my age but this year, more than any other, seems to have flown by at lightening speed.
But, however quickly time seems to have past, this has also been a year of immense and wide-reaching change. From the UK’s vote to leave the European Union, the subsequent changes in UK government, and the US election of Donald Trump as president, many of these will continue to impact and drive the economic and political agendas into 2017 and beyond.
The pace of change and development has been just as rapid in the employee benefits market. As well as numerous changes to policy and legislation, we’ve also seen a number of developments in the benefits market harnessing some of the latest thinking around technology, artificial intelligence, and genetic medicine to name but a few, which looks set to develop further in the coming year.
But, in line with my general glass half full philosophy, I’d rather not spend too much time looking back. Rather than reflecting on what has, more often than not, been a rather turbulent year, let’s instead look ahead to 2017 and the opportunities a new year always presents.
So, what are your priorities for 2017? And with the pace of change showing little sign of slowing, what would you like to see in the coming year?
Wishing you all a very happy and healthy festive season.
