Jet2 employees asked to take a pay cut of up to 30%

Jet2.com and sister business Jet2holidays have given their workforces a 9% pay rise, effective from April 2023.

The businesses also increased their profit share scheme terms by one percentage point, so that eligible employees can get a 6% share.

The employers also awarded staff an extra annual leave day on top of their current entitlement for 2023. Last year, the employer gave all members of staff an extra five days of annual leave to encourage them to take a break, with one of these now being made permanent.

Last year, Jet2.com and Jet2holidays also increased salaries by 8% over the course of 12 months, gave all employees a £1,000 thank you bonus, introduced exclusive discounts on Jet2holidays for staff and their families, and launched a Sharesave scheme across multiple countries.

Steve Heapy, chief executive of Jet2, said in a letter to employees: “We have the best staff in the industry, and this is reiterated constantly with all the customer service awards we receive. We remain committed to ensuring that we continue listening and reacting to their feedback as the business evolves, and we hope this will continue to make us their employer of choice for years to come.”

Miriam D’souli, human resources director at Jet2, added: “We think the annual pay review puts people in a positive place in terms of maintaining their lifestyles. We’re also giving back more of the profit we make to our colleagues to recognise what they do for us. We want to look after our people and make sure we’re treating them the best we can. Most colleagues will get a share of that or be part of our generous bonus or commission schemes that are purely based on our performance, so everyone benefits from our success.

“It is a big investment, but we’ll get that back in productivity and loyalty. Engagement as a result of this is incredible. It makes everyone want to work harder together for the success of the business.”
