How To Be A Savvy Consumer

Today’s consumer is offered a dizzying range of options and services. We all increasingly have access to a worldwide marketplace with unprecedented levels of choice, not just in terms of what we can spend our hard-earned cash on, but in when we choose to buy it and even in how we pay for it.

While few of us would want to change any of that, so many options can all too easily overwhelm us, and it’s sometimes hard to differentiate between a great deal and a clear rip-off.

Thankfully The Money Charity’s financial wellbeing workshops are here to help! We are continually evolving and developing our content to meet current needs and our new range of workshop categories and modules are the next step as we aspire towards a financially capable UK.

Our ‘Savvy Consumer’ category is designed to give you and your colleagues the tools and confidence to help you each make smart, informed choices, all while keeping yourselves and your money secure.

We offer three 1 hour modules within ‘Savvy Consumer’:

Financial Fundamentals – Topics include: understanding key terminology in personal finance, identifying credible sources of information to research and compare financial products, and how to analyse the dreaded “terms & conditions”.

Fraud & Financial Abuse – This module covers: identifying the main types of financial fraud, recognising what to do if you become a victim of financial fraud, explaining how to reduce your risk of identity theft, planning strategies to protect yourself from online fraud, and distinguishing between legal and illegal money lending.

Assertive Communications – Focuses on: demonstrating an ability to communicate confidently about money and negotiate effectively with providers, and discussing strategies to manage high-pressure sales situations.

Our workshops are also flexible, meaning we can mix and match topics in discussion with you, as well as tailoring content to specific needs identified by you for your team, or input requested by them for their situations.

By choosing The Money Charity as your financial wellbeing provider, you will not only be delivering your colleagues a high-quality learning experience but you also enable us to further our work in the community, including offering financial wellbeing programmes to vulnerable groups and young people.
