Hertfordshire County Council intends to repeat its first school holiday childcare scheme provided for the 18% of council employees with childcare requirements.
The council provided a summer play facility for children aged seven to 13 years during the August school holidays, attracting 178 enrolments. Gillian Hibberd, assistant director of HR, said staff rated the scheme as good value for money. She added that many of the staff had also expressed an intention to use the facility again.
The scheme was funded in partnership with the East Hertfordshire District Council, and subsidised for parents who paid £15 per day.
