Herbert Smith Freehills has introduced a return-to-work programme to support experienced female lawyers who are looking to return to private practice after an extended career break.
The scheme, conducted in partnership with OnRamp, matches potential staff with existing legal vacancies within law firms.
Candidates for the programme will need to have at least three years of legal experience and have been on an extended career break of up to 20 years.
Successful candidates will take part in a one year fellowship during which they will receive on-the-job training and support.
Herbert Smith Freehills has launched the fellowship programme in both the UK and Australia, with the aim of fostering a diverse workplace culture and recruiting top female talent.
Sue Gilchrist, regional managing partner for Asia and Australia at Herbert Smith Freehills, said: “Our firm is committed to fostering a high performing, diverse and inclusive culture, because we know that diverse perspectives significantly boost our creativity, problem solving skills and our ability to innovate, which results in a more rewarding workplace for our people and better service for our clients."
