Retailer Central Co-op has launched a financial support benefit across its support centre, food and funeral operations teams.
The Co-op Credit Union benefit will form part of Central Co-op’s overall wellbeing offer. It will enable employees to access a range of tools, services and resources to support their mental health, money and the rising cost of living. Staff will also be able to access options for long-term savings and affordable loans starting from £50.
Central Co-op hopes that access to the credit union will help to reduce employees’ stress, anxiety and absenteeism relating to money worries and subsequently enhance their performance at work.
Jen Roberts, senior reward and wellbeing manager at Central Co-op, said: “Our colleagues’ wellbeing is important to us, and this includes financial wellbeing. We are pleased to be able to offer this benefit in partnership with The Co-op Credit Union to provide help and resources for all colleagues, whatever their financial wellbeing needs are.”
Earlier this year, Central Co-op invested in its overall wellbeing strategy through the introduction of wellbeing champions across the organisation, the provision of a free virtual GP service for staff and their families, access to free counselling, mental health training for leaders and a free annual health check.
