Brexit

Something for the weekend: London-based team building organisation Team Tactics has introduced an exclusive new activity to its events roster: a Brexit rage room, where groups of up to 10 employees can smash pinatas shaped like politicians Nigel Farage and Boris Johnson.

Available from Monday 25 March 2019 for one week only, the Brexit rage room has been designed for teams of frustrated employees who are stressed about the UK’s departure from the European Union (EU), or are perplexed by the way the situation is being handled by the government.

The event allows teams of employees to destroy Brexit-related objects, such as the Brexit bus, to-scale models of Parliament and pinatas of political figures, with an array of available objects, including baseball bats, spray paint and crowbars.

The one-hour experience, offered on a first-come-first-serve basis, will take place in a London warehouse and costs £15 per person. Those entering the rage room will be required to wear protective gear.

Prior to the event, attendees will attend a health and safety briefing and participate in a debating session, where they will be encouraged to share their views on Brexit, the EU and politicians; this is designed to bring the group’s frustrations and anger to the surface, ready for the rage room itself.

After teams have enjoyed an hour in the rage room, they will join a 30-minute meditation session, to help them relax and unwind.

Tina Benson, managing director at Team Tactics, said: “Since it was announced that the UK is leaving the EU in 2016 and Article 50 was triggered, Brexit has probably been the biggest talking point across Europe. With Brexit day just around the corner, people are more stressed than ever about what it will bring.

“That’s why we decided that we needed to help at least a few teams relieve the stress of an uncertain future [while] having some fun, and what better way to do it than have them smashing up pinatas of politicians?”

Here at Employee Benefits, we can see how venting pent-up frustrations alongside colleagues could be beneficial for employees’ overall wellbeing, as well as helping staff meet like-minded people within their organisation. No matter the occasion, we love a pinata…
