Fast food chain Greggs has reported a 10.49% mean gender pay gap for 2023, down from 2022’s figure of 14.64%.
The organisation’s median gender pay gap for 2023 increased slightly year on year from 2.81% to 3.24%.
Its mean gender bonus gap for last year was 39.04%, down from 55.99% the previous year, and its median gap was 14.43%, down from 30.21%. A total of 73% of women and 66% of men received a bonus that year, compared to 69% and 65% in 2022.
Greggs’ 2023 mean ethnicity pay gap was 5.78%, up slightly from 5.37% in 2022, and its median gap was 2.13%, up from 1.54% previously.
Its mean ethnicity bonus gap was 42.68%, down from 48.73% the previous year, and its median gap was 60.42%, up from 37.71% in 2022. A total of 57% of employees with an ethnic minority background and 74% of white staff received a bonus last year, compared to 56% and 70% the year before.
Roisin Currie, chief executive of Greggs, said: “I continue to be proud of our reputation for bringing the best talent through the business regardless of gender or ethnicity. 66% of our total workforce is female and almost half of our management roles are held by women. We continue with our commitment to support women’s progression and through our Womens Development Programme; over 35% of the participants have gone on to secure more senior positions in Greggs.
“We recognise that we need to work harder to achieve greater ethnic diversity in our management population and we are fully committed to achieving this. We are making sure that we have diverse talent pipelines, appropriate representation across our career development programmes, and we are providing enhanced career development support to employees from an ethnic minority background.”
