An online service that allows working parents to search for vacancies with registered home-based childminders has been jointly launched by the National Childminding Association (NCMA) and The Grass Roots Group, a provider of salary sacrifice schemes.
Recipients of Grass Roots’ Care-4 childcare voucher can use the online system to search for registered childminders who have vacancies close to their home or workplace. The service is limited to customers of The Grass Roots Group, making it available to around 20,000 employees at companies including BT, HBOS and GlaxoSmithKline.
Andy Lister, head of reward services at Grass Roots, said: “We’re trying to match the needs of parents with the large number of vacancies with child carers in the UK, as there are many vacancies they can’t fill.”
Nationally, the NCMA has 50,000 registered childminders. The site currently holds around 700 registered vacancies.
