Goldsmiths, University of London, has been accredited as a living wage employer by the Living Wage Foundation.
The university, which employs 1,800 full and part-time staff, has been paying the London living wage rate since 2011.
The London living wage is a voluntary rate calculated according to the cost of living in the capital. It currently stands at £9.40 an hour.
The voluntary hourly rate is higher than the national minimum wage rate of £6.70 an hour, and the national living wage rate of £7.20 an hour.
Goldsmiths has signed a licence to support the continued commitment to the living wage initiative. The university joins other accredited living wage employers in the London borough of Lewisham, including Lewisham Council, The New Cross Gate Trust and Rushey Green Time Bank.
Patrick Loughrey, warden at Goldsmiths, said: “Our staff make Goldsmiths a unique and inspiring university and paying the London living wage recognises this.
"We want to support all who work here and are determined to help them cope with the cost of living in the capital. It is also fantastic to get official confirmation of our commitment to fair and ethical pay for our employees.”
