Something for the weekend: When looking for a new job, an attractive salary can certainly be a deciding factor to help narrow down what roles to apply for. One family is offering a stand-out salary of £50,000 a year for a live-in nanny. Not only will the successful candidate have to care for two small children, but they may also have to cope with supernatural occurrences in the family’s haunted house.
The family, who live in a small village in the Scottish Borders, placed an advert on Childcare.co.uk for a live-in nanny to care for two children, aged five and seven years old. The advert describes the family home as “a lovely, spacious, historic property in a remote spot with spectacular views”, while the remuneration package includes a £50,000 per annum salary and 28 days' holiday plus bank holidays. The chosen nanny will also have their own bedroom, en-suite, and private kitchen to retreat to after fulfilling duties such as preparing breakfast, doing the school runs, and helping with homework.
However, alongside these perks of the job, the live-in nanny may also have to contend with regular supernatural incidents, which have been cited as the reason why five previous nannies have left the lucrative role over the past year. The mysterious incidents include strange noises, broken glass, and moving furniture. With both parents away on business for up to four nights of the week, responsibility to fend off unruly spirits would fall to the next nanny.
In the advert, the parents write: “This has obviously been a period of great upheaval for our children. We haven’t personally experienced any supernatural happenings, as they have been reported only while we’ve been out of the house, but we’re happy to pay above the asking rate, and feel it’s important to be as up-front as possible to find the right person.”
Here at Employee Benefits, we are not sure how we would react to a haunted office or ghostly colleagues. The stapler moves around enough as it is without any supernatural assistance…
