Grass Roots Group staff are to take part in its second annual charity bike ride to raise money for Marie Curie.

The bike ride, which will take place on 25 May, is a 106-mile journey from Bath to the organisation’s head office in Tring.

Daniel Gillborn, head of commercial operations at Grass Roots Group, said: “We involved the staff by finding out what they wanted to do to raise money. It fits with what we do as a business and practising what we preach.”

The bike ride is communicated to employees through a monthly staff meeting. Employees who do not want to do the ride can take part by raising money or getting involved in some other aspect of the event.

“Plenty of our employees bike to work, but some people do not feel they can do 106 miles,” said Gillborn. “To make sure we are all-inclusive, we have other employees involved, such as in the support van that follows us along the route and the creation of sponsorship pages.

“It is something that always creates a great deal of good feeling and buzz around the business, while doing some good.”
