EXCLUSIVE: The majority of respondents (87%) state that reasonable cost is a key factor that influences their decision to buy or continue to offer healthcare benefits, a trend which continues from 2017, according to research by Employee Benefits and Health Shield.

The Employee Benefits/Health Shield healthcare research 2018, published in August, surveyed 162 respondents. It also found that the second biggest influencing factor is the range of benefits offered by a provider (75%), a considerable increase from the 51% who cited this in the 2017 research.

Employee engagement and boosting overall employee wellbeing have dropped from joint top alongside reasonable costs to third (70%) and fifth (66%) respectively. Being seen as an employer of choice moves even further down the list, from second to sixth place, with a drop of 18%.
