Retailer Currys has launched a hybrid-working model for 1,400 corporate head office UK employees.
The initiative, which has been launched in conjunction with global flexible workspace provider WeWork, will provide these sections of Currys workforce with WeWork's All Access passes so they can visit more than 50 UK flexible work locations designed for quiet solo work or collaborative meetings.
In addition, Currys will refurbish a number of spaces in its own stores across the UK to support regional hubs and give some staff more flexibility about where they work.
The retailer took a consultative approach when designing the policy, placing an emphasis on what staff want and their concerns as the UK returns to the workplace and more pre-pandemic styles of working. It is looking to shift to a more creative and agile workplace strategy that provides greater flexibility, giving both individual employees and teams the ability to arrange their own work schedules based on their location, workflow and what suits them best on a particular day.
Alex Baldock, group chief executive officer at Currys, said: “Our workspace of the future embraces what genuine hybrid working means, not just where you work, but how you work. We want to bring our people together again, but in a way that works for them. We are really excited to unlock the potential of truly hybrid working and believe that being innovative today will prepare us for how we adapt to new ways of working in the future.”
