Ellipse employees walked on fire in Bermondsey Square in London for charity on 11 April.

Led by the group risk insurer’s chief executive officer John Ritchie, the employees walked across 20 feet of burning coals at a temperature of 1,236 degrees fahrenheit, to raise money for charity Winston’s Wish, which provides child bereavement services.

Ritchie said: “The fire walk was a fantastic experience, and the fact that the event raised nearly £5,000 for Winston’s Wish is the icing on the cake.

“Our partnership with Winston’s Wish has developed because, while our policies provide financial benefits to bereaved families and dependants, they can’t help with the emotional side of bereavement.

“We don’t have the skills in-house to provide counselling, so we introduce our insured’s families to an organisation that does.”
