Manufacturers organisation, EEF, is piloting a new qualification aimed at helping managers improve the health and wellbeing of their employees.

Its Management of Health and Wellbeing at Work qualification, which is accredited by the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health, is designed to benefit employers who are seeking to improve workforce efficiency and morale.

The course covers topics such as:

  • Effects of health on work
  • Effects of work on health
  • Management of attendance
  • Management of mental health at work
  • Management of people with musculo-skeletal disorders
  • Workplace health promotion
  • Workplace health support
  • Mike Prince, a health, safety, climate and environment leader at EEF, said: "The qualification equips managers to minimise absence, encourage people back to work where possible, and deal effectively with the health issues of their staff."

    The first of these courses will be held at EEF venues across the UK from September this year.
