Logistics organisation DHL Supply Chain has agreed a 2.6% pay increase for warehouse employees based in South Yorkshire.
The pay deal, which has been accepted by employees who are members of trade union Unite, will be backdated to June 2016.
The increase will benefit warehouse staff working in two sites at Bawtry, as well as 150 employees based at the organisation’s Harworth site, which is due to close. Staff currently based at Harworth will be transferred to Markham Vale, operated by Great Bear Distribution.
Unite and DHL Supply Chain will begin renewed talks in the summer to negotiate the pay arrangement to take effect from June 2017.
The agreed pay deal follows on an offer of a 1.25% pay increase. Unite members who work at DHL Supply Chain had planned 15 days of strike action in reaction to the initial pay proposal, however, these will no longer go ahead.
Harriet Eisner, regional officer at Unite, said: “The DHL management made an improved offer of 2.6%, up from 1.25%, which was overwhelmingly accepted by our members. As a result, the planned industrial strikes won’t now proceed. I would like to thank our members for the solidarity they have shown during this dispute."
A spokesperson at DHL Supply Chain added: "Following recent discussions with Unite we are pleased to confirm that agreement has been reached and any threat of industrial action has been withdrawn."
