Deutsche Bank parental leave

Banking organisation Deutsche Bank has enhanced its parental leave benefits for employees across the Asia Pacific region.

The enhanced benefits are available to all permanent employees, regardless of gender or length of service, in Australia, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Japan, India, Indonesia, mainland China, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

Employees are now eligible for up to 26 weeks of paid leave for primary caregivers of a newborn or newly adopted child, which is an increase from the previous 16 weeks. Non-primary caregivers of a newborn or newly adopted child can take up to 16 weeks of paid leave, up from two weeks, while those who experience a miscarriage will also be eligible for paid leave.

The bank implemented the revised benefits following internal feedback. The updated policy takes into account an employee's role as either a primary caregiver or non-primary caregiver, rather than gender, and is in line with its focus on gender equality. One of its key priorities is ensuring that all staff can dedicate meaningful time to their families and personal wellbeing, which these enhancements align with.

Amrita Mohanty, head of wellbeing and benefits at Deutsche Bank, Asia Pacific, said: “Deutsche Bank is committed to its employees and focused on supporting them throughout the different stages of life. The wellbeing of our employees is our top priority. At Deutsche Bank, we are committed to continuing to foster a culture of inclusivity and supporting our employees throughout their life milestones.

“With our new newly enhanced parental leave benefits, we hope to empower our colleagues to focus on their families and themselves, during what is a very important time in their lives.”
