Professional dance organisation Rambert has been accredited as a living wage employer by the Living Wage Foundation.
The organisation, which employs 48 London-based staff, will pay at least the London living wage rate of £9.75 an hour to both permanent employees and third-party contractors.
The living wage is a voluntary rate, which is independently calculated according to the basic cost of living.
Currently, the living wage is set at £9.75 an hour for employees working in London, and £8.45 an hour for staff who work across the UK.
Rambert opted to become a living wage employer after engaging with the South Bank Employers Group, which aims to highlight the benefits of paying the voluntary living wage to both communities and businesses that operate in London's South Bank area.
Rambert is the 3,000th organisation to be accredited as a living wage employer.
Tigho Ayovuare, general manager at Rambert, said: “Rambert makes world-class dance in the centre of London, and takes that work to audiences around the UK and internationally. Our pursuit of the highest possible standards needs to include a commitment to fair pay.
“Becoming a living wage employer ensures that everyone who contributes to our work will, like our dancers and musicians, be paid at a level that enables them to live in the city where we’re based.”
