German commercial vehicle manufacturing firm Daimler Truck has awarded eligible employees a €6,300 (£5,546) profit sharing bonus and a one-off appreciation bonus of €1,000 (£880).
The bonuses were decided upon by the firm’s board of management and the General Works Council, and apply to 25,000 tariff-scale German employees, who will receive it with their April 2023 pay.
According to Daimler Truck, it was able to award the bonuses due to a strong start in 2022, in its first year of independence, despite challenging conditions, such as the war between Russia and Ukraine, the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the volatile supply of parts.
In addition, the board of management and council agreed on a new calculation logic for the profit-sharing bonus from the coming financial year, based on its model for managers. The aim of this was to ensure all employees eligible for bonuses will be closer aligned with Daimler Truck’s economic success in Germany from 2023.

Jürgen Hartwig, labour director responsible for human resources and member of the board of management at Daimler Truck, added: “In 2022, despite challenging framework conditions and geopolitical uncertainties, Daimler Truck proved that we are successful as an independent business. In addition to our innovative products, the great commitment of our employees, their flexibility and dedication, significantly contributed to the successful start of our independence.
