Just over half (56%) of working parents are unaware that childcare vouchers can be used to help with the cost of summer childcare including holiday sports courses and adventure camps, according to research by Computershare Voucher Services (CVS).
The research, which surveyed more than 1,000 working parents, showed that only 1% of childcare vouchers are put towards these types of summer activities and only 9% are used for school clubs.
Julian Foster, managing director of CVS, said: “Childcare vouchers are far more versatile than some parents realise.
“This means lots of families are missing out on vital savings by failing to take advantage of their many uses.
“The summer holidays can be a particularly expensive time for parents, as paying for additional childcare and keeping the kids entertained can soon mount up. I am surprised by how many parents are missing out financially by not using vouchers towards other types of registered care.”
