McCarthy and Stone Group, the retirement property builder, has appointed Alphabet to supply vehicles and accident management for its 200 strong car fleet.

As part of its health and safety compliance procedures, McCarthy and Stone will use Alphabet’s driver licence checking service for all drivers and authorised users of company vehicles.

The company sought a new fleet supplier after its previous leasing company withdrew funding when the group underwent a corporate restructuring in 2009.

Michael Ball, chief financial officer of McCarthy and Stone, said: “Alphabet has helped us with our policy and I have found them a first class organisation to deal with.

"The online functionality they provide to enable our fleet drivers to select vehicles saves administration for us and for Alphabet. They have been extremely proactive and very helpful.

"We had a moratorium on ordering new cars for a year but now that we have this arrangement with Alphabet the shackles are off and we can move forward. It has been received very positively within the organisation.”
