A cash allowance is an allowance paid in lieu of a company car to employees who would qualify for a company car. Allowances can be paid to employees who have to use their cars for business as well as to those who simply receive this benefit as a perk. However, employers are often less inclined to offer allowances to business use drivers so that the employer can have more control.
