During the week, which runs from 8-14 June, the organisations will promote their offerings to help employees better prepare for, and manag,e the challenges that caring can present.

The organisations will also run engagement seminars and webinars during the week.

The theme for the week includes ‘building a carer-friendly community’, which aims to raise awareness among staff to help break the stigma of being a working carer.

Other employers taking part to promote working carers include Right Management, Macquarie Group and Tata Consulting Services.

The organisations have all recognised the challenges faced by working carers within their workforce.

They have also all launched an online learning tool, AgeingWorks, provided by The Positive Ageing Company for their employees to use alongside the seminars.

Yvonne Sonsino, innovation leader Europe at Mercer, said: “We now provide structured support to our employees to help them to find effective ways in which to balance the need to care for an ageing relative alongside their other family commitments while remaining in the workplace.”

Jayne Carrington, managing director at Right Management, added: “Adding a portal specifically aimed at eldercare support and older workers to our employee assistance programme gives staff access to professional advice and guidance.”

Nicola Sitch, organisational design specialist at Npower, said: “At Npower, we recognise the growth in working carers and whole heartedly support our employees so they can look after their loved ones in a less stressful way.”
