Carter Law Solicitors has introduced new benefits for its staff, including an enhanced bonus scheme and childcare vouchers, following feedback from an employee engagement survey conducted in 2015.
Three quarters (75%) of the organisation's 80 staff took part in the engagement survey, which found that 38% of respondents wanted an updated and improved benefits package.
In order to expand its existing employee benefits package, the Manchester-based law firm implemented a range of new benefits, such as additional holidays depending on length of service.
The firm has enhanced its bonus scheme, providing team managers with greater input into the performance targets set for fee-earning employees. Through its bonus scheme, Carter Law awards support staff a percentage of their annual salary dependent on role and seniority, which starts at 3%, if quarterly targets are reached.
The organisation has also introduced a voluntary benefits programme, provided by Perkbox, which gives staff access to perks such as retail discounts and free mobile phone insurance, as well as employer-subsidised gym memberships.
Carter Law has added childcare vouchers, provided via Perkbox, to its benefits offering for working parents. The firm, which already has shared parental leave and flexible working schemes in place, aims to support employees with children by offering them a greater level of flexibility.
Further staff social events have also been introduced, in addition to the existing Christmas party and summer conference. Under the enhanced employee benefits package, managers are delegated a budget to spend on treating their teams to meals out and activities.
Wendy Choyce, head of HR and training at Carter Law, said: “At Carter Law we believe that our staff are our most valued asset, so when they told us through our annual employee survey that our benefits could be improved, we listened and we acted.
"The key point for me has been to give due consideration to the actual profile of our staff and seeking to introduce the benefits that meet their needs. I believe that introducing a specific employee benefits survey has helped us to get it right.”
