Incentive rewards for taking part in health and wellness schemes are increasing in popularity among UK employers, according to research by Buck Consultants.

Working Well: A Global Survey of Health Promotion and Workplace Wellness Strategies found health risk appraisals are the most common benefit for which incentives are offered, as cited by 44% of respondents. A further 42% offer incentives to participate in workplace health challenges, 37% to refrain from smoking and 26% to do a biometric health screen. Common incentives are gifts or prize draws.

Mike Tyler, managing director – health and productivity at Buck Consultants, said: “Incentives can secure enough participation to achieve results that the employer can analyse.”
