Around 350 staff employed by engineering and infrastructure organisation Babcock at the Royal Air Force Valley (RAF Valley) station in Anglesey, Wales have been awarded a 5% pay increase for 2019.

Under the one-year pay deal, negotiated with trade union Unite, Babcock employees who are responsible for the maintenance support and servicing for the RAF IV Squadron and the XXV (F) Squadron, primarily working on T2 Hawk planes, will receive a 5% pay rise. This equates to an annual pay increase of £1,139 for an average employee.

Daryl Williams, regional officer at Unite, said: “Unite has negotiated a significant boost in pay for the skilled workforce on the ground who support the RAF squadrons in the air.

“The deal is clear proof of the benefits of having Unite in the workplace to power [employees’] pay.”

Babcock declined to comment.
