Apple, Asos, the BBC (pictured), Sky and Virgin are among the organisations that have been recognised on the Top Companies 2018 list for the UK, compiled by LinkedIn.

The list recognises employers that employees want to work for, and is based on analysis of the actions taken by LinkedIn members between January 2017 and January 2018 in relation to organisations with more than 500 employees. It takes into consideration views and applications for job postings, engagement between employees and with the organisation directly, and staff retention. Analysis of these key areas was used to produce a blended score to rank organisations.

The UK list spans a variety of different industries, including technology organisations such as Facebook and Dell Technologies as well as financial and banking businesses, for example HSBC, Barclays and Lloyds Banking Group. Luxury retailers that featured on the list include L’Oreal and Selfridges.

US-organisations that are ranked in a separate country-orientated list using the same methodology include Alphabet, Amazon, Netflix, Salesforce, and Tesla.

Holly Middlemiss, talent brand and engagement partner at Asos, said: “Our [employees] live and breathe our values of authenticity, creativity and bravery in everything they do. It’s equally important for us reflect these through our employer brand, bringing to life our unique culture internally and externally. At Asos we do things not just to simply tick a box; rather, we genuinely care, we want to do the right thing and see the value in doing so. [Employees] spend a majority of [their lives] at work, so why shouldn’t it be with [an organisation they] love, where [they] believe [they’re] making a positive difference and feel truly valued?”
