Aon is to give all employees an extra day's holiday to be taken on their birthday to celebrate its twentieth anniversary.

Over 5,000 UK employees will benefit from the perk over the next year in recognition of the date Aon was quoted on the New York Stock Exchange on 24 April 1987.

The consultancy firm is also encouraging employees worldwide to participate in local community projects on, or around, that date to thank communities for their support over the past 20 years."

Stuart Fox, managing director of HR, said: "We wanted to recognise the contribution our individuals are making to the business by giving them the extra holiday. Aon operates a flexible benefits system and the most popular 'bought' benefit is additional holidays, with 20% of employees opting for extra holiday this year."
