Aberdeen City Council will launch a voluntary benefits scheme and introduce salary sacrifice perks in 2011 after a year-long tendering process among 20 providers.

James Fox, HR adviser at the council, said: “We did not have an overall provider of employee benefits, so the aim was to source a single provider to deliver salary sacrifice and voluntary benefits.”

The council appointed RSM Tenon in partnership with Edenred to administer the scheme for its 9,000 staff. Edenred will provide the voluntary benefits, including retail and restaurant vouchers, and the technology platform. RSM Tenon will deliver a suite of salary sacrifice perks, including bikes for work, a computer scheme and carbon offsetting.
