Abbey and Cancer Research UK have launched financial education programmes to help employees manage their money during the recession.
Cancer Research UK's scheme will first roll out its initiative to a group of 60 employees this month and has scheduled further sessions to take place throughout the year. The charity will host seminars for staff, which will cover topics such as debt management, budgeting, borrowing and saving, and will be conducted by the Financial Services Authority.
Paul Chadwick, head of reward and recognition at Cancer Research UK, said: "[The financial education] is an extension of the work we have been doing to promote our total reward offering. In the not-for-profit sector it is important to highlight non-financial benefits."
Abbey also plans to launch a workplace financial education programme later this year.
Maria Strid, head of reward at Abbey, said: "Although the majority of our workforce has a great deal of training around understanding of financial products and how they can be affected in the current climate, we feel that it is important to keep investment in financial education high."
