More than 1,000 Asda employees have been awarded for a combined 47,135 years of service at the supermarket chain’s Big Anniversary event on 16 July.
Its annual long-service celebration, which is in its 13th year, recognises staff who have 25, 30, 40 and 45 years of service with the organisation.
The long-serving employees also received an extra week’s holiday and £300 each.
More than 50% of Asda’s 180,000 employees have five or more years of service with the organisation. Of this group, 1,749 have worked at Asda for more than 25 years, while 22 have worked there for more than 40 years.
Hayley Tatum, executive people director at Asda, said: “The Big Anniversary event is our way of saying thank you to these employees for looking after our customers over the years.”
