Workplace Options has launched a new toolkit to help employers cope with the impact of the economic downturn and the government’s spending review.
The employee assistance programme (EAP) provider has launched the Moving Forward toolkit in recognition of the worries many public sector organisations expressed about how the spending review and consequent budget cuts would impact on employees and the organisation.
The toolkit, launched at the end of May 2011, allows employers and staff access to resources that better help them understand the situation and the role an EAP can play in supporting them.
The toolkit, which is available online or on disc, includes employee fact sheets, tips and guidance on redundancy and finances. It aims to help managers work through change, and provide resources to employees that may be impacted by changes directly, such as being made redundant, or indirectly by surviving in the organisation and having to deal with an increased workload.
Sections of the tool refer to how an EAP can assist with supporting organisations and employees through redundancies or help with financial support, for example.
Alan King, president and chief operating officer of Workplace Options, said: “This provides resources that can support, and also information that can make managers aware of the impact of actions on individual employees.
"It also helps the organisation understand that it is not just employees that are impacted, but also managers and the organisation as a whole. Being able to view it in a holistic way and having the resources and the support to be able to do that effectively is what the kit is all about."
