“If you have a good reward strategy and a good benefits package then, by all means, you should be ensuring you get the recognition for that,” said Richard Murray, group pensions manager at FirstGroup, during an interview with Jennifer Paterson, senior reporter at Employee Benefits magazine.

FirstGroup won the award for best pensions change at the Employee Benefits Awards 2013. Murray joined the closing keynote session on the first day of Employee Benefits Live in September to discuss the organisation’s experience.

“Winning an Employee Benefits’ award has given us a lot of confidence,” he added. “It gives management confidence that we are introducing the right kind of changes and offering the right kind of reward package, and it also gives our employees confidence that they are benefiting from a valuable award package.”

”We won the award because we were able to demonstrate that we understood and knew our workforce, we knew our business needs, and we understand the importance of effective communication.”
