Something for the weekend: US grocery and bulk goods delivery organisation Boxed Wholesale surprised employees by offering to pay for their wedding day.
The benefit will apply to all full-time staff, including employees who work in fulfilment centres across New Jersey, Atlanta, Las Vegas and Dallas, as well as those who are based in the corporate and support offices in New York and San Mateo.
The first employee to receive a free wedding is 26-year-old Marcel Graham, who spent his wedding savings on paying for his mother’s medical bills.
Chieh Huang, chief executive officer at Boxed, said: “We just felt like once someone is part of the Boxed family, we want to be there for them in their time of need. It then just felt right to extend this benefit to all our valued employees.”
Marcel Graham added: “It was overwhelming that Boxed would pay for my wedding. I was in tears and so was my fiancée. It just makes me feel that they appreciate my work here.”
The Employee Benefits team is thinking of subtly leaving some wedding magazines on our desks!
