Thomas Cook is to give more than 2,000 cabin crew employees who are members of the trade union Unite a two-year pay deal.
The pay deal includes a 3.2% pay increase backdated to April 2017, which equates to an additional £500 a year for employees earning an average annual salary of £16,107, as well as a further 3.6% pay rise from April 2018, in line with the February 2018 retail prices index (RPI).
Over the two-year period, a typical cabin crew employee will see their pay rise from £16,107 to £17,222 a year.
Under the terms of the deal, employees will also receive increased cabin crew allowances, which make up a significant proportion of their take-home pay.
Mike Gaskell, regional officer at Unite, said: “This pay deal is a real boost for Thomas Cook cabin crew. It helps the crew keep up with the cost of living and recognises the hard work cabin crew do, day in, day out. At a time when [employees’] pay is being squeezed, it pays to have a union in [employees’] corner.”
Thomas Cook declined to comment.
