The health cash plan market generated £570 million in 2009, according to new research from Datamonitor.
The UK Healthcare Cash Plans 2010 report showed the market demonstrated strong resilience in the recession with the sector witnessing a 1.2% increase.
Mahreen Hussein, analyst at Datamonitor and author of the report, credited the rise with product innovation in the market and the affordability of the product, which continue to make the plans attractive to organisations seeking to spread out their healthcare costs.
The report also found the rise of corporate products has allowed brokers to pave their way into the market and that the employer-paid sector will be a fundamental driving market growth.
