PRS for Music has promoted Janeace Thompson (Jay-T) to director of talent, culture and experience.
Reporting into chief people and transformation officer, Suzanne Hughes, the newly created role is pivotal to the organisation’s plans to support and deliver its strategic imperatives and continue its journey of change.
In addition to Thompson’s current remit, which covers talent acquisition, learning and development, and ownership of employee-led diversity and inclusion affinity groups, she will focus on its equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging (EDIB) agenda within the wider music industry.
Thompson joined PRS for Music in March 2022 as head of inclusion and employee experience. She spearheaded the organisation’s progression around EDIB commitments in line with UK Music’s Ten-Point Plan and The Five Ps: The Music Industry’s Action Plan. As a strategic advisor with the goal of creating a more inclusive culture for all employees, she has fostered an environment of learning, understanding and safety in sharing perspectives and experiences.
Thompson said: “I am deeply honoured to assume this newly established role. Learning and development, recruitment, and attraction are the enablers of diversity and inclusion. The design of this role is genius because I’m across all those three areas and with the broad view I have, I can merge it all together. I’m excited that my skills, depth and breadth of knowledge, and ability to be able to deliver has been acknowledged. The way the business has received my new appointment encourages me that we are the progressive organisation that I hoped we would be when I joined.”
Hughes added: “Here at PRS for Music, who we employ, the culture we create, and how we look after our people is incredibly important and integral to our strategy and ambitious five-year plan. We are fortunate to have someone as highly skilled as Jay-T on our team, as we continue our journey of becoming a more socially conscious organisation. We aspire to embed a more inclusive culture at every level, whether it be with a view to our activity internally or with a lens on our external-facing initiatives or supported events and campaigns.”
