Law firm RPC is to increase pay for its trainee solicitors based in London and Bristol by up to 10%.
Year one trainees based at the business’ London office will receive £44,000, up 10% from £40,000 previously. Meanwhile, year two trainees will receive £48,000, which is an uplift of 9% from the previous figure of £44,000.
Meanwhile, trainees based in its Bristol office will receive an additional £2,000, with year one rates increasing by 5% to £37,000 and year two rates to £38,000.
The increases will take effect from September.
The news comes two months after the law firm announced it will increase pay for newly qualified solicitors from 1 July. Its most junior solicitors based at its London office will earn up to £85,000 in the commercial group and up to £80,000 in the insurance division, which are increases of 21% and 14%, respectively. Juniors located in Bristol will see a 14% rise, from £49,000 to £56,000.
An RPC spokesperson said: “In what is a constantly evolving market, we regularly review our pay approach. This review, undertaken every year and currently ongoing, looks at remuneration across all levels and parts of the business, including the remuneration of trainees. Following this review, we have decided to increase trainee salaries across the UK, effective from September 2022.”
