Bahamas babysitter

Something for the weekend: A mother in need has been inundated with responses after posting an advert on childcare app Bubble seeking a babysitter to join her family on a two-week trip to the Bahamas over Christmas, all expenses paid.

The advert, placed by banking executive 'Jenna S', whose regular nanny can't make the trip, claims to offer a generous pay package, alongside accommodation and flights, on the proviso that the applicant helps look after two girls, aged four and two.

The babysitter will have their own en-suite room in the family's beach house. They will be called upon to help with the morning and bedtime routines, but Jenna promises they will be largely able to structure their own time and activities during the day.

"While we expect to have a few evenings where we'd like [them] to babysit, most evenings [they] will be free from around 8pm or 8.30pm," says Jenna.

Unsurprisingly, the job advertisement has attracted hundreds of applicants, according to Bubble creator Ari Last, who admitted he had been tempted to register interest in the job himself before his wife stopped him.

He said: "We're used to seeing parents get quick responses to their ads, but this one was off the charts. For sitters, the downside of doing the job would mean Christmas spent away from family, though judging by the sheer number of applicants it seems as though a luxury trip to the Bahamas takes precedence."

Here at Employee Benefits, we are reluctant to work over the festive period, but this job is definitely a Christmas cracker. However, if the regular nanny has had a better offer, we might like to consider that first!
