Murphy to return 4,000 employees to full pay by August

Engineering and construction organisation Murphy has confirmed it will restore 4,000 employees to full pay from August 2020, following on from a business-wide pay reduction.

Due to the financial constraints of the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, employees have been receiving a 10% reduction in salary since May 2020, while senior leaders have seen a 20% decrease in pay.

The organisation did not furlough or make any employees redundant during this period.

A spokesman at Murphy, said: “Thanks to the safe and hard work of our teams and the support from our clients, we are reinstating full pay as planned from 1 August [2020]. We believe we took the right steps through lockdown and we’re grateful for the support of our colleagues.

“We are now emerging in a robust position as most of our projects are up and running with new safety guidelines in place, but we can’t be complacent and are focused on continuing to deliver essential infrastructure.”
