More than 1,500 employees in the organisation’s UK bus division signed up for the benefit when it was first launched in 2012.

The re-launch coincides with National Bike Week, which runs from 14 to 22 June.

The bikes-for-work scheme, which is provided by Cycle Solutions, will first be made available to employees in Yorkshire and the east of England to tie in with the upcoming Tour de France, which will be hosted by both regions in July.

Employees at Stagecoach Group’s head office in Perth, as well as in each of its regional bus organisations, including London, will be given access to the scheme over the next five months.

Staff can choose from more than 140 bikes, including mountain bikes, hybrids and road bikes, up to a total value of £1,000.

Stagecoach has also invested in improved cycle facilities for staff, including better bike racks, lockers and shower facilities at bus depots.

Robert Montgomery, bus managing director at Stagecoach UK, said: “The first round of the bikes-for-work scheme proved very popular with employees and it’s great for our staff that we are able to offer the scheme to them again.

“Sustainability is at the heart of our organisation and this scheme is a great opportunity for our employees to use a greener, and healthier, form of transport to and from work, as well as in their spare time.”
