DHL Express launches online benefits portal

DHL-Employee-2013

EXCLUSIVE: DHL Express has launched an online benefits portal to pool its benefits in one place.

The portal, which was launched in May, is available to the logistic organisation’s 3,200 employees in its Express division.

The portal, called DHL Box Clever, includes access to retail discounts and tax-efficient benefits, such as childcare vouchers and a bikes-for-work scheme.

DHL Express previously had several different portals in place for different benefits, but this approach failed to engage employees with their benefits.

Sylwia Klimczak, reward and recognition analyst at DHL Express, said: “This was neither cost effective nor value for money for our employees.

“The discounts were not great and employees could get better deals elsewhere. The offering was all over the place and we had to change this to pool the benefits in our online portal.”

The portal, provided by Reward Gateway, also offers employees the opportunity to earn cashback, and to buy discounted gift vouchers and reloadable shopping cards.

DHL is aiming to reach 80% take up in the first six months by continuing to communicate the portal to staff. This includes roadshows and pocket information in the form of gifts, such as car air fresheners with information about the portal.

Employees are able to sign up to the portal in a number of ways, including via their smartphones.

Klimczak added: “It is difficult for transportation and logistic employees because they work offline. The whole idea was to cover every angle and allow staff to sign up using their smartphones.

“We have a quick-response (QR) code for those on the go. We will continue to push our communications and we will continue to give gifts every month to drop a hint to employees to get them to sign up, if they have not done so already.”

The online portal was also launched for DHL Aviation employees in April and will be rolled out across the rest of DHL over the next 12 months.
