A robust communications strategy will help employees make informed decisions about pensions, said Thomas Humphris, head of office HR and UK reward at publishing firm Informa.

Speaking at Employee Benefits Live on 25 September, Humphris said that it was important that communication with employees about the auto-enrolment changes was easier to understand.

He added: “I tried really hard to make sure our staff made an educated and informed choice.”

Leading up to Informa’s benefits enrolment window in November this year, the organisation is launching a teaser campaign about auto-enrolment, which will include emails and leaflets sent to employees, pop-ups in the reception area of the office and a microsite dedicated to auto-enrolment.

The organisation will also be running roadshows, auto-enrolment clinics carried out by its pension provider and will offer access to independent financial advisers (IFAs).

Informa will be going live with its auto-enrolment scheme in January 2013. The organisation decided to bring it forward from the original date of June 2013.
